Our Process

Our Sedona architectural residential design process is focused on efficiency, transparency, and collaboration. We believe in working closely with our clients from the initial consultation to the project completion to ensure that their vision is realized. Our commitment to sustainable construction and green building principles in Sedona is unwavering.

pre-design
phase 1

Thank you for considering Sustainable Sedona for your design needs. We understand the importance of listening to your goals and making them our top priority. Our pre-design process is crucial in laying the groundwork for a successful outcome. We will gather all the necessary information, including your lifestyle preferences, room-by-room requirements, site details such as lot size and location, neighborhood specifications, and permit requirements. This thorough approach ensures that we can create a design that aligns with your vision and meets all necessary criteria.

preliminary design meetings
phase 2

In the second phase, Sustainable Sedona will create a preliminary 3D model based on your goals for you to review and provide feedback during our design review meetings. This phase will focus on aspects such as flow and function, including 3D model review, site planning, residential building design, passive solar orientation, overall interior space with area calculations and room sizes, as well as room configurations and adjacency requirements.

design development meetings
phase 3

Thank you for your interest in phase three. During this stage, we focus on refining the design of your home to the finest detail, both inside and out in 3D. This is an exciting stage for those who appreciate the art and science of design. We work closely with you in each meeting to finalize various aspects including building materials, interior design of hard surfaces, lighting design, cabinet design, window and door planning, as well as plumbing, appliance, equipment, and hardware selections. Our goal is to ensure that every detail is carefully considered and tailored to your preferences.

construction drawings
phase 4

Thank you for your interest in Sustainable Sedona's phase four services. Our team will prepare comprehensive technical drawings, details, and written specifications for your home to ensure that it is built according to your expectations. These documents will be essential for obtaining accurate pricing from your general contractor, securing building permits from local jurisdictions, and ensuring design compliance during construction. The drawings may include a site plan, building sections and elevations, floor plans, electrical and lighting plans, furniture plans, foundation and framing plans (coordinated through a structural engineer), interior elevations and details, as well as written specifications. We are committed to providing the necessary documentation to support the successful realization of your project.

construction site visits
phase 5

Thank you for completing the design phase. During the construction phase, Sustainable Sedona will continue to provide support and expertise to ensure that the design intent is accurately implemented. We will be available to address any questions from you or the construction team, and to provide assurance that the design is not misinterpreted or overlooked. Our goal is to support a smooth and successful construction process for your project.
